Stanley White is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who enjoys teaching students of all ages and skill sets. As a drum teacher he strives to impart top quality instruction in drum set and hand technique, sound development, as well as musical approaches to playing, performing and practicing.

Stanley grew up just outside of Barrie, Ontario and began studying drum kit with Val Hathaway at 13 years old. Val, a York University alumni and true mentor to Stanley eventually led him to study with both Jim Blackley and Ray Reilly for a combined 10 years before, during, and after university.

Jim Blackley is one of the most sought after and respected drum teachers and authors in the music world today. His students have gone on to play with such renowned musicians as Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Paul McCartney, Sting, and Annie Lennox to name a few.

Ray Reilly was a student of George L. Stone of Boston, and Billy Gladstone of New York. He has been a member of the orchestras of the National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the Stratford Shakespearian Festival and the Charlottetown Festival.

Stanley graduated with a BFA from York University in June 2014. While at York, he studied Jazz Performance, Conga and other Hand Drumming Traditions, Dagbon Drumming, Balafon and Mande Music, Steel Pan Orchestra, and Kpanlogo Dance Music from Ghana. He also received guidance and instruction in jazz workshops under the direction of Lorne Lofsky, Jim Vivian, Roy Patterson and Richard Whiteman

Stanley has been a drummer for many musical groups, including: R&B groups, Jazz groups, Stage Bands, Indie Rock groups, African Griot groups and Folk/Rock groups. He currently plays drums in the Toronto Indie/Rock band “Jonesin’ and the Hurt” who has performed at The Horseshoe Tavern, Cherry Cola’s, The Silver Dollar Room, and has been featured on BalconyTV amongst other well known Toronto venues. While Stanley loves performance, his true passion is teaching the art and practice of percussion.

Stanley is currently a full time drum set teacher at the 'Music Pro Education' in Barrie, Ontario and at 'Stan White Drum Dojo' in Toronto. He is currently accepting new students.
